LIttle Acts of Kindness

Well, another week down. I try not to think about each day as one more day down of our Iowa experience, and I really love it out here, but honestly there are some days when that's al I can think about. I think about how nice it will be to have "real" life, with no school, and a real income. How nice it will be to not live off of loans. (I know graduating means having to pay those off, but sometimes that seems so much nicer than this). I try not to be jealous of everyone who has all of the stability that I want because I know that, for the most part, they have had to pay their dues as well. For all of you in the same position as me...do you ever feel this way?
Ok. Whining over. Onto the fun stuff.
We had a fun weekend with lots of family time. Russ got to play in a 3 on 3 bball tournament at Palmer and they came in third! I'm not sure who had more fun, him or Hannah!
We also got to watch our friends two little cuties one night. They are such good kids, and Hannah has so much fun with them that I can't complain about that added chaos to our house.
On Saturday morning we went to the Farmer's Market to check out all of the delicious produce! Hannah absolutely loved it and keeps begging us to go back to the "Market." While we were there we were checking out at one of the booths and this older man came walking up to us and handed Hannah a dollar. He got a huge smile on his face and told us it was his birthday and he wanted to share it with everybody. How cool is that?! How many of us are that selfless? It was an act of kindness that I really needed last week. It made me step out of my self pity and be truly grateful for the small acts of kindness that happen in my life almost daily.
We were heading to the grocery store right after the farmer's market and told Hannah that she could pick out whatever she wanted with her dollar, knowing that it probably would be something we normally wouldn't let her get. Sure enough, she headed straight for the giant candy bins as soon as we walked into the store!
To cap off our fun weekend we had our friends over for dinner, and for some strategic planning for a 12 hour adventure race that they, and my hubby, are doing in a cpl of weeks. Not a lot of strategizing went on, but we had a lot of fun playing with their twins who are only a month older than Emma. They are already competing over her :) (Ignore her soaked shirt...she has already turned into the drool queen)!

I know exactly how you feel about wanting a, "real life." Ben had been in school most of our married life and he is finally done. We are just doing the waiting game now, trying to find a job, so he can bring home real income and we can have our own money.

Your time will come. Be patient. I know it is hard, especially with TWO little ones. Please! Please! call me anytime and I can help out!! or I can just keep inviting myself over!! Love Ya!!

I love the drool, and what a nice guy to give Hannah a dollar! That was so sweet! Your girls are so cute!

I once felt exactly as you do. We were poor starving college students too. I was so ready to get past that, but then the job market was not what I expected either. You have to get through school, take that crappy job in your field to get experience, and then the rewards start coming. They come slowly, but they are worth it. It is a long process, but it will end.

We once had five of us living in a two-bedroom dungeon living off of $10 an hour. Now Clint has his career, we have a house, a BMW (Basic Mormon Wagon...a van), four kids, a cat, dog, a garden, and we're working on a tree castle for the boys. Good times.
Hang in there. Your time will come. It gets better!

Do I get some kind of medal for the LONGEST comment ever?! Sorry about that...!
